Anderson ‘Wears it Pink’ for breast cancer

Office and site staff clubbed together to raise a whopping £3,110 for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity. The nationwide campaign “Wear it pink” saw companies encourage staff to raffle, tombola, quiz and sing for charity, whilst donning the brightest, pinkest clothes in their wardrobes.

At Anderson, staff donated prizes from pink gin & pink tonic to tickets for Disney on Ice, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe, and even premier league football.

Gillian Black, fleet and operations manager at Anderson, and organiser of the day, said: “What a fantastic day! I think we all had fun wearing pink, winning raffles and raising money.

“I’m so pleased that we have been able to give so much to such an important cause.”

More than 50,000 women and 300 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every year – and one woman every 45 minutes loses her life to the disease. The charity Breast Cancer Now is entirely focused on breast cancer and their aim is that, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live.

Mark Anderson, Chairman of the Anderson Group and founder of the Anderson Foundation, added: “Charity is important to us as a company. Days like this prove that you’ve got great staff and I can see yet again a sense of charity across the business that’s not seen very often elsewhere.

“Breast cancer impacts us all at some point in our lives. By wearing it pink, Anderson have played their part in making sure that we deal with such an important issue.”
